President's Corner by Buckle

November,  golly the year is almost gone. As an alley we still have a lot of things to do yet before the year is over, Most importantly, this month we are holding elections to decide who will lead the alley next year. As most of you know, I cannot hold the office of president again next year.  Please, Please, Please, attend this months meeting and help choose our leader for next year.  This choice should not go to only a few members but to all of us, everyone should have a say in who is to lead us.

We also will be deciding the recipients of the annual awards given out by the alley. If you have someone in mind to nominate for an award  please attend, don’t leave it up to someone else to make the nomination, they may not feel as you do and may suggest  someone else for the award.  The only way to guarantee your ideas are presented to the alley is to be present at the meeting and stand up and be heard.

I would like to thank the clowns who got up early last Saturday to volunteer at the Make-a-Wish fund raiser. I for one am glad we are able to renew our relationship with that group, they are very deserving and a fun bunch of folks.

The Christmas party this year sounds like lots of FUN. Please plan to attend, the details can be found elsewhere in the newsletter.

This month’s meeting/graduation show/program is going to be a very FULL evening.  The only way we can fit it all in is to have the graduation show first (at 7:00) then begin the meeting at 7:35-7:40 we will need to conduct a fast meeting in order to leave enough time for Carl Jones to do the program.  I hope everyone that is able will be at the meeting please attend and please try to get there early.  Take heart, my rein of terror is almost over.

Thanks to Our Volunteers

Meeting Minutes  October 17, 2006

The October meeting was called to order by president Ed Fitzgerald. No minutes from the September were available. W.T. Keys moved the treasurer's report be approved as stated in the newsletter and Earl Warren seconded. The motion passed.

Susan Keys discussed the upcoming Make-a-Wish events on Thursday, October 18th and Friday, October 19th. Clowns are to call Susan if available to perform.

OLD BUSINESS

Jim Davis, the president of DOT sent a thank you letter for our check of $750.00 and the $535.00 cash totaling $1285.00. The alley chose DOT as our charity of choice from our profit from the TCA convention.

Alley winners from the TCA convention included Tricia Gregory, 1st place in Multiple Balloon competition. Second place in group skits went to 'School Days' clowns Francisco "Tako", Carolyn Kerr "Sugarplum", Laura Chester "Fluffy", Aloha Peden "Lollypop", and Lana Sue Fridge "Joyfull." The very special honor of "Ambassador of Clowning 2005" was awarded to our own Ed Fitzgerald "Buckle." He quipped that his reign was the shortest on record since the "Ambassador 2006" was also awarded the same night. Last year's canceled convention in Houston prevented the '05 award from being presented then.

Medical City Hospital sent a check for $300 for alley participation.

December 19th is the date for our alley Christmas party. Following discussion, Cinde Sanders moved to have the party at the South MacArthur Church of Christ. Carolyn Kerr seconded and the motion passed. Susan Keys moved to have the alley pay for Christmas dinner. Debbie Davis seconded and the motion carried. Susan and Tricia Gregory will entertain us with their marionettes that evening.

NEW BUSINESS

Officer elections for the upcoming year will be held in November. A board roster was presented as follows:

President - Susan Keys

Vice-President - Tricia Gregory

Treasurer - David Griffith

Secretary - Lana Sue Fridge

Sgt. of Arms - Debbie Davis

Board Members - Marcia Griffith, WT Keys, and Aloha Peden

No nominations were made from the floor. Ed reminded us that the Al Armstrong award nominations must be presented in writing prior to the November business meeting.

We were asked to check the list of upcoming alley participation events and to sign up and participate.

Announcements included that Alley member David Larrabee is having chemo treatment. Eileen Rowland "Winkie's" mom died and the funeral was held at Brigg's Funeral Home in Azle on Friday, the 19th. Please keep these clowns in your prayers.

Earl Warren moved that the meeting be adjourned and Cinde Sanders seconded. The motion carried. There was a brief break and Cinde's great 'Goblin treats' were enjoyed.

Our program was then presented by long-time and very talented storyteller Elizabeth Ellis. She gave us some important tips to assist us in our own storytelling. The meeting went over time due to everyone's questions.
