President's Corner Gosh! Here we are less than two weeks away from July 4th. We are getting ready for the holiday and the up coming convention. I hope to see everyone at the joint meeting this coming Monday in Hurst. It is a good thing to get together once in a while to see what everyone is up to, it is very easy to lose connection with our peers. We all have good intentions it’s just that life happens, and before you know it a whole year has past. So it will be a good thing to see all the joeys again….At least until the convention that is. I’m really excited about the parade we as an alley are participating in this year, yes I know it’s the one in Irving, but if it’s anything like last year it will be a blast. There are several good reasons to join us in this parade: 1. it is short! Only about one and a half miles. 2. lots of the streets in the parade route are shaded. 3. if you don’t want to walk there are always offers to ride floats of the other entries. 4. the last half of the route is down hill so its easier to walk. 5. the parade officials are not to strict if you want to lollygag on the parade route you can. 6. lots of your friends (joeys) will be there. 7. last year instead of fans, a boy scout troop passed out Popsicles! (they were very popular) 8. The alley gets paid!! This is our biggest fund raiser of the year. There are more reasons to join us this year but I’m out of time and space, so come on out to the July 4th celebration in Irving this year you’ll be glad you did! Bump a nose Buckle |
